Sewing-on buttons

Always reinforce the button sewing point with a small square of stable fabric. You can sew an additional "stay button" on buttons that are put under particular strain. A stay button is a second button that is approx. 1/3 smaller, and is attached on the wrong side of the fabric at the same time as the outer button.
